Clergy Coalition Shelter in
Hoboken
Once a month, on the second Sunday, we as a church are committed to
feeding the hungry at the
Clergy Coalition Shelter in Hoboken. There is a need for at least 12
casseroles, each feeding 8 people. Nothing exotic or fancy, just
plain and simple. If you can't fix anything, then just pick up
fixings for a salad.
3-4 people are needed to
help in delivering and serving the food. You leave St. Paul's at
5:30 pm and finish about 8:30 pm. As you leave, guests thank you -
it is instant gratification! Sign-up is posted in the Breezeway.
Center for Food Action
Week by week parishioners can be seen
placing food into baskets before the altar in church on Sunday mornings.
The food is taken to the Center for Food Action (CFA) located at Westside
Presbyterian Church here in Englewood. There the food is processed and
distributed to hungry people. St. Paul's regularly refers
individuals to the CFA when they come to the church seeking emergency
assistance. St. Paul's also makes financial contributions toward the
work of the CFA.
CROP
Another important service venture is St. Paul's involvement in CROP.
This is a ten-kilometer walk through all of four wards of Englewood to fight
hunger by obtaining pledges for each kilometer walked by participants.
This walk helps world hunger, but 25% is kept locally for the Center for
Food Action (CFA) and St. Cecilia's Shelter program. Many of our
members not only walk, but sponsor others. The Hunger Walk occurs in
May each year. Just another way to strive for justice and peace
among all people.
