of Stewardship
United Thank Offering (UTO)
The UTO is a ministry of the Episcopal Church. It was Mrs.
Richard Soule, President of St. Paul's Guild in 1888, who was one of two
women that originated the very idea of UTO. That idea has since
spread until Episcopal women follow the custom all over the world by
dropping coins into their blue boxes and saying prayers of thankfulness.
Nowadays, libraries,
hospitals, job-training projects and people are brought together by our
nickels, dimes and quarters collected in those blue boxes that you see
scattered throughout the church - yours for the taking! Twice a
year, during the spring and fall, the blue UTO envelopes are mailed out
and gathered in here at St. Paul's on Ingathering Day.
Every Member Canvass (EMC)
The EMC campaign is kicked off in the
fall of our church year. Our stewardship message is that as
Christians, the beneficent use of money is one of the most tangible expressions of
our faith. Parishioners are called and invited to examine their
resources and give proportionally to the church. Callers and
Captains are needed for this important project.
Finance
Committee
The Committee meets once a month to discuss the financial condition of St.
Paul's. This group monitors spending and income and makes
recommendations regarding future financial plans.
Endowment
Committee
The Committee manages the Endowment Fund of St. Paul's. This group
monitors our investments and makes recommendations accordingly. It
also deals with the issues confronting churches with large endowments.
At issue: the fact that parishioners may see a large endowment as a reason
not to contribute financially, while as a church we plan for future
financial considerations.
