Weddings at St Paul’s Church in Englewood
Welcome to St Paul’s. The Clergy and Staff are glad to assist you with your wedding plans. Weddings are conducted in accordance with the Book of Common Prayer 1979 by an ordained member of the Staff of St Paul’s. The Episcopal Church requires the following:
• At least one person of the couple must be a baptized Christian.
• The couple must meet with the priest three times for about an hour for premarital counseling.
• If either of the parties is divorced, permission for the marriage must
be obtained from the Bishop.
This requires that the priest see copies of divorce decree(s) a minimum
of six weeks before the wedding.
• A civil wedding license must be obtained from a city Clerk and given to the priest before the wedding at the rehearsal.
• Flowers are the responsibility of the wedding couple, but must be left with St Paul’s.
• Three Lessons and one or two Psalms are required for the service. Please
choose the lessons from the ones the church recommends
which are in this booklet, and provide two readers from the wedding
party for the First and Second Lessons.
